The Groove
Season is here with us again. The nominees night was a blast. It saw this
year’s list of contenders announced at the Louise Leakey auditorium.
The event
saw Daddy Owen come out strongly to reiterate that he would like to sit out
this year’s awards.
He was nominated in the Male Artiste Of The Year and his
album Utamu Wa Maisha was nominated in the Album of The Year.
After the nominations the Groove Tour with Skiza hit the
road. Kisumu’s Jomo Kenyatta grounds were the first stop. Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando
joined Kenyan Groove Awards nominees, Emmy Kosgei, Eko Dydda and DK among
others.
The crew also visited orphans at the Mama Ngina Children’s Home
to preach a message of hope and fellowship with them.
The Mombasa leg of the Groove Tour was postponed due to
“security concerns”.
Kevin Mulei, founder of the Groove Awards, said in a
statement: “Owing to the recent security concerns, we are hesitant to host such
a huge event at this festive time. We shall keep our fans at the coast updated
and indeed they should look forward to a great Groove experience soon.” The
rest of the tours are still on track with the Meru event set for April 14,
Thika on 15 and Eldoret on 22.
