EVERYTHING GROOVE AWARDS - Sunday, 8 April 2012

The Groove Season is here with us again. The nominees night was a blast. It saw this year’s list of contenders announced at the Louise Leakey auditorium.

The event saw Daddy Owen come out strongly to reiterate that he would like to sit out this year’s awards.

He was nominated in the Male Artiste Of The Year and his album Utamu Wa Maisha was nominated in the Album of The Year.

 After the nominations the Groove Tour with Skiza hit the road. Kisumu’s Jomo Kenyatta grounds  were the first stop. Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando joined Kenyan Groove Awards nominees, Emmy Kosgei, Eko Dydda and DK among others.

The crew also visited orphans at the Mama Ngina Children’s Home to preach a message of hope and fellowship with them.

The Mombasa leg of the Groove Tour was postponed due to “security concerns”.

Kevin Mulei, founder of the Groove Awards, said in a statement: “Owing to the recent security concerns, we are hesitant to host such a huge event at this festive time. We shall keep our fans at the coast updated and indeed they should look forward to a great Groove experience soon.” The rest of the tours are still on track with the Meru event set for April 14, Thika on 15 and Eldoret on 22.

Rose Muhando was born in 1976 and was raised in Dodoma, Tanzania.
On being deathly ill, Rose converted to Christianity and it was this move, her leading the choir at her local church and her meeting Nassan Wami that prompted her first album recording.
Today Rose lives in Dar Es Salaam where her career has flourished over the last 10 years. To date, Rose’s first album shattered sales records, selling over 5 million copies. She currently has her second album (JipangeSawaSawa) out, which has already sold well over 1.3 million copies. Story haikuishia hapo, walipoona Bahati Bukuku anawacheleweshea kukamilisha ma dili yao ndipo walipompigia simu mwanamuziki mwingine maarufu wa Injili Rose Muhando na kumwambia kuwa mume wangu Gardner alikuwa amepata ajali mbaya sana ya gari na ameumia vibaya mno,
kwahiyo nahitaji kiasi cha shilingi milioni mbili ili niweze kutatua matatizo hayo.
Rose aliamua kumpigia promoter wa muziki wa injili Alex Msama na kumuuliza kama ni kweli kuna kitu kama hicho.
ambapo Alex alinipigia simu asubuhi na simu ilipokelewa na Gardner kama kawaida manake mimi sipendi kabisa maswala ya simu, na akashangaa na kuanza kumuelezea yaliotokea.

Gardner alimuambia kuwa siku moja kabla tulipokea simu kutoka kwa Bahati Bukuku akituelezea jaribio kama hilo lilimtokea yeye pia kwa nia ya kumtapeli kutumia jina la Binti Machozi.

Mwisho tu jamani mimi binafsi kama Jay Dee nawaomba watu kuwa makini na haya maswala kwani mji na dunia vimeharibika sana.

Nikipata tatizo kubwa wa kwanza kumuelezea ni Mume wangu na mama yangu mzazi, wao wakishindwa kutatua ndio wataweza kujua nani wa kumwambia.

THE NEW YEAR GROOVE PARTY - Saturday, 2 January 2010

From the people who gave you the Groove Awards comes the Groove Party. Held at the KICC, the much hyped gospel party was headlined by Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando and featured big named in the gospel circles including Jimmy Gait of the Muhadara fame and Daddy Owen. At when the clock struck midnight there was a fireworks display. even at the time more people were standing in line to enter the started, there were still people waiting in line to pay the Sh200 entry fee.
